Artist's Statement & Bio

Contact Information

My name is Cynthia Shalk and I am a Los Angeles-based artist. I find my inspiration in both antique & contemporary quilts and create unique artworks from hand-made papers that are cut and pieced together. Intricate hand-stitching and beading lend dimension and depth. My art pieces are very eclectic, and adapt easily to both traditional and contemporary decor, in either residential or commercial settings. I am always working on new pieces, and I welcome requests for commissioned work.

Artist's Statement
The majority of my career has been spent as a textile artist, designer, and mixed media artist. I've always been attracted to folk art and the beauty of the imperfect. It has been my mission to merge the vision of the artist with the hand-work of the craftsperson.
